Mohammed Kudus has returned to the Black Stars squad after missing Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign through injury.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz has included the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder in his 24-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
Kudus’ return comes after a lengthy injury lay-off that kept him out of action for several months. He has since returned to club football with Tottenham and is gradually rebuilding his match fitness.
The 25-year-old last featured for Ghana in October 2025 during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, before his injury ruled him out of the World Cup.
His return adds experience to a Black Stars attack that also includes captain Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Ibrahim Osman and Christopher Bonsu Baah.
Kudus is among several players returning to the squad, with Alexander Djiku, Nathaniel Adjei, Ibrahim Sulemana and Ibrahim Osman also recalled after missing the World Cup.
Ghana will begin its AFCON qualifying campaign against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24, before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29.
The Black Stars will then travel to Morocco for an international friendly against the Atlas Lions on October 4.
Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia and Somalia, with two teams from the group set to qualify for the 2027 AFCON.
