Over 2,000 Senior High School (SHS) entrants in the Tano North Constituency have received educational items from the Member of Parliament, Dr. Gideon Boako to support them as they begin their secondary education.
The items, including chop boxes, exercise books, school bags and calculators, were presented to the students and their families as part of an initiative aimed at supporting young people in the constituency.
Dr. Boako described the gesture as more than an act of kindness, saying it represented the fulfilment of a long-held dream shaped by his own experiences growing up.
According to him, poverty and a lack of resources nearly prevented him from pursuing Senior High School education.
He said he was, however, able to overcome those difficulties through the support of his family, individuals he described as “destiny-changers,” and what he termed God’s abundant grace.
Reflecting on his educational journey from Bomaa to Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School, Dr. Boako said his personal experience inspired him to give back to younger people and help make their educational journey easier.
He explained that the chop boxes, exercise books, school bags and calculators distributed to the more than 2,000 SHS entrants were his “little token” of support to the students and their families.
Dr. Boako expressed the hope that the beneficiaries would make good use of the items and remain focused on achieving their educational aspirations.
He also offered a prayer for the students, asking God to bless their efforts and enable them to realise their dreams and, in turn, become a blessing to others.
The event was graced by the presence of former Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, whose participation, Dr. Boako said, added significance to the initiative and helped put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.
Dr. Boako further expressed his appreciation to Nananom, members of the clergy and other distinguished guests who attended the programme and supported the initiative.
He encouraged the students to embrace their new chapter with determination, urging them to keep learning, dream big and strive to make Tano North proud.
