Covid-19: Noguchi unable to confirm whether Ghana has reached its peak

Director for Noguchi Memorial Institute for Research, Professor Kwabena Annag, says although his outfit has tested over 100,000 coronavirus cases, it’s unclear whether or not Ghana’s covid-19 cases has reached its peak.
Noguchi is the leading research institute championing the coronavirus tests in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, Director for Noguchi Memorial Institute for Research, Professor Kwabena Annag noted that in order for the covid-19 case curve to flatten and move downwards, the country has to reach its highest testing point.
According to him, Noguchi receives more than 3000 samples on daily basis and is able to test over 5000 since there are sample backlogs.
Asked if there is a possibility of Ghana’s curve to flatten after the over 100,000 tests conducted so far, Director for Noguchi Memorial Institute for Research, Professor Kwabena Annag, noted that the flattening of the test highly depends on the response and seriousness the general public attaches to the pandemic.
“Noguchi has developed protocols to match the enhanced testing being conducted. Although it is possible for the curve to flatten and move downwards, the general public has a role to play. Our response to the covid-19 will determine whether or not the curve will flatten or otherwise. Some individuals still doubt the existence of the virus, at this juncture we ought to be each other’s keeper especially this time.” he noted.
He called on all stakeholders to be ambassadors of the pandemic and intensify education on the need to adhere strictly to the laid down precautionary measures.
Ghana’s coronavirus case count currently stands at 1550 with 19 deaths and 155 recoveries.
