Gum will win 2024 elections- Kyiri Abosom

The founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) Christian Kwabena Andrew popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has said his party will win the 2024 general elections.

According him, the party is reorganizing to position itself well after the 2020 elections defeat to face the 2024 elections.

Mr. Kwabena Andrews who contested in the presidential race for the first time obtained 105,548 votes representing 0.805% out of the 13,119,460 votes cast.

He emerged the third force in the 2020 presidential polls as predicted by many pre-election surveys.

Speaking in an interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive hosted by Kaakiyre Ofori Ayim, Mr. Kwabena Andrews admitted that his party could not win the 2020 elections due to the limited time it had for campaigning.

“We used just about eight months to campaign, unlike the other parties which have been in existence for over 30 to 40 years. So, we were going into it to capture certain areas but time was not on our side.”

He urged all party members to remain calm as they prepare for the 2024 elections adding that he is confident of doing more exploits in the next general election to be conducted in 2024.

Di Asa is my favourite reality show on TV- Kyiri Abosom

Founder and leader of Life Assembly Worship Center, Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrew popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has lauded management of Atinka Media Village (AMV) for introducing the Di Asa reality show.

According to him, the show  since its inception in 2017 has boosted the morale of plus size women in Ghana.

Atinka Media Village in 2017 launched its maiden Television reality Show dubbed, “Di Asa” at its premises at Avenor Junction in Accra.

“Di Asa” which is aimed at engaging plus sized market women in a dance competition has educated over 1,000 market women on how to live a healthy life as a plus sized woman.

Speaking in an interview on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Kaakiyre Ofori Ayim, Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrew said, “I salute the management of Atinka Media Village for bringing Di Asa

“I must confess to you that, I really love watching the Di Asa show and I can’t wait to see the Season 5 hit our screens “he told Kaakiyre Ofori.

He said, the content of the show portrays the rich culture in Ghana and is loved by many including Members of Parliament.

Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrew encouraged management of Atinka Media Village (AMV) to think of taking the show outside Ghana to sell Ghana to the world.

Meanwhile Season five (5) of Atinka TV’s multiple award-winning show, Di Asa will be launched  today  at the Dor Events Annex, North Kaneshie, opposite the Alabaster School.

Artistes on the bill are VGMA22 New Artiste of the Year, Mr. Drew, Sherifa Gunu, and popular Child Poet, Nakeeyat Dramani.

Past queens from Season one to four will also represent in their numbers to thrill audience with amazing performances.

At the event, prizes for the winners, venues for audition, mode of auditioning and all information about the main show will be revealed to the public.

Police to act on petition against Ken Agyapong over alleged threat on journalist

The Ghana Police Service has assured the general public that it is aware and alive to its Constitutional mandate and responsibility and shall therefore endeavour to protect each and every person in the Region as well as their properties.

This comes after the Ashanti Regional Police Command received a formal complaint and petition from the Multimedia Group against Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, for threats allegedly made against their journalist, Mr. Erastus Asare Donkor.

According to the police, the petition is receiving
attention and being investigated by the Regional Crime Officer, adding that any further developments will be communicated.

“Let us allow the Police to investigate the matter and not to inflame passion and make comments that could ultimately mar the investigations,” the police stated.

It also implored each and every citizen to report to the Police anything they witness, have known about and have heard that, in order to assist in the investigation of any case.

Germany floods kill 93

The states of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany have now confirmed at least 93 deaths because of the floods.

In Rhineland-Palatinate:

  • At least 50 confirmed deaths
  • About 1,300 people are unaccounted for in the district of Ahrweiler
  • The village of Schuld, with the population of 700, is almost entirely destroyed

In North Rhine-Westphalia:

  • At least 43 confirmed deaths
  • A row of houses collapses in the town of Erftstadt
  • A major dam near the Belgian border, the Rurtalsperre, is overflowing

GT Bank Di Asa Season 5: Nhyiraba Mary, Kay 9ice to perform at launch today

The Official launch of Atinka TV’s award winning show, GT Bank Di Asa Season 5 will be held today, Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Dor Events Annex, North Kaneshie.

Aside the Major Artistes performing today at Atinka TV’s GT Bank Di Asa Season Five, Ghanaian Gospel Artiste, Nhyiraba Mary and New Highlife Artiste, Kay 9ice will also perform at the Launch.

The two, who were on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie, speaking with Co Host, Ama Gyenfa Ofosu Darkwa, promised to give out amazing performances, calling on their fans to come and have a live experience with them.

Meanwhile, Mr Drew, Sherifa Gunu and young Poet, Nakeeyat will headline today’s launch.

Aside that, the past queens of Di Asa will also thrill the audience with amazing performances.

There will also be display of cultural dances by the queens and a cultural troop.

James Town robbery: Husband of murdered woman unhappy with gov’t, bank

“Empty, Empty, Empty house, how I wish I could reverse 14th June”. These were the words of the Husband of the mother of three who was shot dead during a day light robbery of a bullion van transporting money at James Town.

Speaking in an interview with Atinka News, Mr. Gamaliel Apau who was teary said the gap left behind cannot be filled as the deceased was a great asset to the family.

“Her Children, myself and several others benefited from her in so many ways. It was not that she was sick ….”

Mr. Apau intimated that he so disappointed that the bank whose money was being transported when the attack happened has not showed up to even sympathize with the three children left behind. Neither has Government done much about getting justice for his wife.

“We all have conscience… So leaders of this country must act in the best interest of the bereaved family and not sit unconcerned”.

He believes if his wife had not lost her life through that tragic incident, she would work with him to ensure that their children get the best of care. In this vein, he appealing to well meaning Ghanaians to support him.

Meanwhile the Ghana Police Service has placed a bounty of ¢20,000 on gunmen who shot to death a police officer and an eyewitness, during a robbery incident involving a bullion van at Adedenkpo, a suburb of James Town in Accra on Monday.

Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, Supt. Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman pointed out that that although they are working earnestly to apprehend the criminals, they are calling on the general public to give information that would lead to the arrest of the culprits to receive the reward.

Former Ghanaian youth star, Nii Odartey Lamptey says he will do whatever it takes to evict his ex-wife from his seven-bedroom house at East Legon following the dismissal of her latest appeal today in Accra.

Odartey’s ex-wife, Gloria Appiah wanted the Court of Appeal in Accra to grant her ownership of the ex-Ghana international’s seven-bedroom house as compensation after their much-publicised split in 2013.

The relationship between Odartey and Gloria hit the rocks in 2013 after DNA results revealed that he was not the biological father of his three children after 20 years of marriage.

Lamptey insisted that he never asked his estranged wife to sleep with other men to get pregnant for him after allegations that he was impotent.

He now has three biological children with his partner, actress Ruweida Yakubu.

Lamptey owns the Golden Lions Soccer Academy and Glow Lamp International School.

Kidnapping: Apinto Gyaasehene safe, suspect arrested

Information reaching Atinkaonline.com indicates that the Gyaasehene of the Apinto Divisional Council, Dr Nana Adarkwa Bediako III, who was earlier kidnapped on Thursday, is now safe and that there is no cause for alarm.

Our sources further confirm that Isaac Blay alias “Kakra”, the gentleman who allegedly masterminded the kidnapping has been arrested by National Security and currently being interrogated.

The kidnapping follows threats by Kakra on the life of the Gyasahene last Sunday.

According to reports, Kakra claimed the Gyasehene was making his (Kakra) work difficult and that he would kill him

“On Sunday, July 11 one Kakra who is a relative to the overlord of the Apinto Division Nana Kwabena Angu II called me and complained bitterly that the Gyaasehene is frustrating him in his work. He then threatened that if I hear that the Gyaasehene is dead then he Kakra was the architect,” Chief Linguist of the Apinto Traditional Division Nana Kwabena Obo II told online portal 3 news.

Meanwhile Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, Head of Corporate Affairs of the Tobinco Group and a Royal of the Apinto Stool, has called for calm adding that the security agencies are on top of issues .

Speaking to Atinka News on Thursday Evening , Mr Dwumfour reiterated that the Kakra, the mastermind, has been arrested.

GARH achieves high bed occupancy rate of over 75%

In the last four years, the Greater Accra Regional Hospital has achieved a high bed occupancy rate of over 75% on the average which is among the highest in the country.

This was after the GARH established a Bed Management Bureau with an appointment of a bed coordinator to address the no bed syndrome.

A Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist and presently the Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh made this known at a meeting with Editors at Alisa Hotel on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

The Greater Accra Regional Hospital started as a Hospital for the European expatriates around 1928. It became a District Hospital after Ghana’s independence in 1957 and was later designated as Ridge Regional Hospital in 1997.

It was redeveloped and transformed into an ultra-modern 420 -bed capacity hospital with the full complement of specialist services to provide cutting edge medical services to the people of Ghana and beyond.

Speaking on the achievements of the hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh said the Hospital had established a Corporate Fast Tract Services Unit and a Pediatric Oncology Centre.

He also mentioned the availability of various Specialist services including Cardiologist, Endocrinologist and diabetics specialist, General surgical specialists, Neurosurgeons, Urologists, Obstetricians/Gynecologist, Intensive care specialists (adult and pediatric), Trauma and Orthopedic specialists, etc.

According to him, the GARH had established Bone Marrow Transplantation Centre, a Dialysis Centre under PPP arrangement, constructed a Family Medicine and Wellness Centre and additional Laboratory Units.

Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh said the hospital has obtained accreditation for Obstetric and Gynecology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics Departments for Post graduate training within the last four years.

He also pointed that the hospital has gained accreditation by HeFRA, elevating the hospital to a Tertiary status, adding that, “GARH is now the only Region whose regional hospital is a tertiary facility.”

He said the hospital has also implemented an effective Functional and Central Emergency System making GARH a major destination for emergency referrals in the city.

Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh also disclsoed the use of WhatsApp technology to coordinate maternal and newborn referrals processes in the GARH.

“We have the busiest delivery centre within the GHS and the 3rd busiest in the country after Korle Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitals,” he said.

He again made it known that the GARH has been designated by the Ghana Health Service as the Health Tourism Health institution within the GHS.

The Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist said the hospital has established a strong research infrastructure and a Research Department to promote and coordinate research activities with a vision to making the hospital a strong research centre in the country.

He added that the GARH has established a Customer Service Unit and Quality Management Department to engrain quality in the hospital’s operational systems.
