Abuakwa: Police rescue female who was kidnapped by armed robbers

The Ghana Police administration has rescued a female victim who was taken away by some armed robbers who attacked their home at Abuakwa.

It was reported recently that some armed robbers attacked two families in a house at Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region.

The Robbers who were wielding machetes robbed the families of some valuables and also escaped with one of the female residents of the house.
According the victims, at about 01. 15 a.m., Wednesday August 17, 2022, they heard an unusual noise at the main gate of their house.

They came out to see what was happening and two men holding machetes suddenly emerged, pushed them back to their rooms and collected an unspecified sum of money and four mobile phones from them.

Per accounts given by the victims, the robbers who took away the female resident demanded a ransom of GHC20,000 before they release her.

The female victim is said to be a 34-year-old lady who is wife to a staff at Mpasatia Senior High School.

In a statement, the Police said the female victim has been taken to the hospital for medical review and psycho-social care.

Meanwhile, it said it is still chasing the robbers, assuring that the Police will surely get the robbers.

“Police have successfully rescued the female victim who was taken away by the armed robbers. The victim is being taken for medical review and psycho-social care. We are still on a manhunt to arrest the robbers and we will surely get them,” the Police stated.
