Asogli youth vow to unravel criminals behind secessionist attacks

Members of the Asogli Youth have vowed to bring to book perpetrators behind the recent secessionist attacks in the Volta Region.

Members of a secessionist group believed to be part of the Trans Volta Togoland group on Friday 25th September 2020 blocked major entry points into Volta Region as part of measures to push the government to give them their sovereignty.

The group also attacked a police station and made away with weapons from their armoury which has been retrieved.

A similar incident occurred in the Ho STC yard on Tuesday 28th September 2020 when four armed men stormed demanding the keys to all the vehicles parked. The armed men allegedly set two of the mini buses ablaze when the drivers did not produce the keys.

In an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Ekourba Gyasi, Youth Chief  of the Asogli Youth Association, Sorhefia Sefadzi Agamah explained that it is appalled by the turn out of events with respect to attacks on the Volta Region.

Sorhefia Sefadzi Agamah likened the recent attacks to verbal effusions and disrespect on the chiefs and the people of Volta by leading political figures which, according to him, have not been addressed by the appropriate authorities.

The Youth Chief cited instances, such as attacks on the Agbogbomefia Togbe Afede XIV by Mr. Freddy Blay and recent audio tape in circulation in which the NPP Bono regional chairman Kwame Boaffoe aka Abronye D.C referred to the people of Volta as foreigners.

Sorhefia Sefadzi Agamah said it is ready to lend  its fullest support to the call by the traditional leaders on the warriors to rise up and protect its citizens to complement the efforts of the state security apparatus, since security is a shared responsibility.

“We are therefore throwing a challenge to members of the separatist group(s) to join us (Asogli warriors) and state security so we can together unravel the mysterious perpetrators of these criminal acts, if they truly believe they are being accused wrongly,” he added.
