ASWIM sensitises market women on coronavirus

The Association of Women in Media (ASWIM) has sensitised market women at the Agbogbloshie market in Accra on the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Aside the sensitisation, ASWIM also presented alcohol based hand sanitizers to the market women to support them in their quest to also prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The President of (ASWIM), Mrs Mavis Kitcher accompanied by Miss Mary Mensah, Person in charge of Public Affairs at the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), together with a team educated the market folks on precautionary measures, including social distancing, washing of hands frequently, use of PPE, amongst others.
Before the sensitization, the Hope for Future Generations Foundation donated some alcohol based hand sanitizers to ASWIM, after which it was presented to the market women.
Speaking at the sensitisation programme, the President of (ASWIM), Mrs Mavis Kitcher urged the women to adhere to the health directives in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
She observed that traders at the market could be exposed to the deadly coronavirus if it breaks in our markets, therefore underscoring the need to educate all traders, especially the market women on COVID-19, adding that ASWIM will continue to educate them at the various markets.
Mrs Mavis Kitcher, therefore, urged the market women and men to observe social distancing in order to prevent them from coming into contact with others who may be exposed to the disease.
Meanwhile, a Market Queen at Agbogbloshie, Madam Hannah Naa Borkai Addy stated that although they have heard about the disease and were adhering to directives  from the Health Sector, some of the people were doing otherwise.
She, therefore, called on the security personnel  to arrest all those who are flouting the rules at the market, especially at the entrance.
The leader of Vegetables at Agbogbloshie, Nana Oguamena I also stated that they were adhering to the directives, advising his fellow leaders to ensure the social distancing directive is adhered to when they bring in goods.
