Bibiani: Families of accident victims identified – MTTD Commander

ASP Juliana Forson, Western North MTTD commander has revealed that families of persons involved in the Bibiani Anhwaso accident have been identified.

Over 13 people died in a car crash involving a Metro Mass bus and a Sprinter bus at Sefwi Anhwiaso in the Bibiani Anhwaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

A Sprinter bus with registration number AS 1813-19 collided with a Metro Mass bus with registration number mass AS 7123 Y leading to the death of the 13 passengers.

About 23 others are still battling for their lives at a local hospital after they sustained severe injuries.

The vehicles were involved in a head-on collision on the Bibiani-Bekwai Road near the Bibiani College of Health Sciences.

The Metro mass bus had about 62 passengers moving from Kumasi towards Sefwi Wiawso while the Sprinter was carrying 23 passengers from Sefwi Wiawso towards Kumasi.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Sprinter bus was overtaking a vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision with the Metro Mass bus.

Speaking to host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, ASP Juliana Forson, Western North MTTD Commander stated that as of Monday, January 10 2021, families of most of the victims had been located.

“On Monday morning around 10.30am, we had information that one Sprinter bus from Sefwi – Wiawso to Kumasi and then one Metro Mass bus from Kumasi to Sefwi – Wiawso, were involved in an accident when they got to a section of the road around Anhwiaso. The Sprinter bus has registration number AS 1813-19 and a Metro Mass AS 7123-Y. As I speak most of the families of the victims have been identified, we are however left with the few whose families are left to be identified,” ASP Juliana Forson old Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.

The victims who survived are receiving treatment at the Anhwiaso Community Hospital and is the Bibiani Government Hospital respectively.
