A former Black Stars Player, Yaw Amankwa Mireku, says it is possible for the Senior National Team, Black Stars of Ghana to win today’s match against Comoros.

He said the team will win if the players are determined to achieve their aim of going to the AFCON.

The Black Stars lost 1-0 to Morocco when they played their first match in the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

Although the team needed an outright win to stand firm in the competition, it had a 1-1 drawn game with Gabon.

This did not sit well with many Ghanaians who had their hopes high before the game.

Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show Ghana Nie, Yaw Amankwa Mireku noticed that the hopes Ghanaians had in the team have dropped due to their performance in the first two matches.

“If I were a player in the team, all I would want to do today is to go on the field and do whatever it takes for Ghanaians to be happy, so I think we do not have any excuse than to win,” he said.

When asked what the team was lacking, he said the players were not that bad.

However, he said there were many new players in the team now.

He said having debutants does not mean the team cannot win but it is about preparation.

He also said the team lacks teamwork and consistency.

Yaw Amankwa Mireku also said he will blame the Coach for the team’s performance, especially when it comes to substitutions.

“Now as we are speaking, the Coach is also not doing very well,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said Ghana had to defend its lead win with Gabon and not allow the other team win because of the Coach’s reluctance in doing substitutions.

Amankwa Mireku said the team should not override Comoros, rather should go all out to ensure a win for the country.
