Bole: Police grab two armed robbers

The Bole Police Patrol team has arrested two armed men at Maluwe, a community in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.

The suspects are Dauda Appiah, 43, and Yusiif Abdullah, 25.

Inspector Owusu Adjekum, the Public Relations Officer for Savannah Region in a statement said the two had been on the police wanted list after robbing a resident of his gold and machine.

According to him, the Bole Police carried the operation together with two other persons at Talekura, who are currently at large.

“The suspects were in mask and armed with gun and cutlass when they robbed the victim of his Gold detecting machine, but on 30/08/21 at about 1:00pm they were spotted with the machine at Maluwe hence their arrest”. He said.

“A search conducted in the suspects’ room revealed an empty shell of G3 ammunition, a barrel of single barrel gun. Cutlasses were also retrieved from the suspects’ room,” he added.

The PRO said the items retrieved from the suspects have been preserved for evidential purposes.

He added that, the two suspects Appiah Dauda and Yusuf Abdullah are in Police custody for further investigation and prosecution.

Two suspected armed robbers have been killed and four others busted for their alleged involvement in some robbery and murder cases along the Kintampo Buipe Tamale Highway.

The robbers, Hamidu Umaru and Haadu were killed after some gun exchanges with the Police Intelligence and Operational teams.

The detained suspects are Saaju Bukari, Bertor Saabi, Ali Amadu and Isaad Sedu.

According to the Police in a statement, the Intelligence-led operations by the Special Anti Robbery Task Force led to the retrieval of 2 locally manufactured pistols and live cartridges, machetes, bayonets, pepper spray cans and stun guns.

Some suspected stolen items were retrieved and they include mobile phones and motorbikes.

The police stated that Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were behind many robberies including the killing of an International Journalist some days ago.

Meanwhile, it said that the Police Administration has Instituted some rigorous measures to effectively combat serious crimes that have plagued the area over the past few years, adding that similar intelligence-led operations have been employed in other regions.

“The general public is advised to collaborate with the Police by providing credible Information on suspected criminals for swift and immediate action. Policing is a shared responsibility. Therefore, we entreat everyone to get involved for a safer and peaceful society,” the police added.
