Children make up over 50% of visitors to the Accra Zoo, Cornelia Danso, Commercial Development and Tourism Manager at the Forestry Commission, said on Atinka TV’s Morning Show Ghana Nie.
“Kids love the zoo. They love to see animals,” she added.
Speaking about the upcoming ZooKids Festival, Ms. Danso explained that only children will pay to enter, while adults accompanying them will get free admission.
The festival is part of “A Very Zoo Christmas”, a three-day celebration organized by Forestry Commission in partnership with the Tobinco Media Group.
The activities begin on Saturday, 20th December, with “A Thousand Steps to the Zoo”, a free fun walk for families.
The deputy manager for Operations and Stakeholder Relations at the Accra Zoo, Samuel Mensah, said participants will also get free entry into the zoo.

On Thursday, 25th December, Christmas Day will feature a live performance by Kwan Pa for GH¢100. The celebration ends on Saturday, 27th December, with the Zookids Festival, offering games, competitions, giveaways, and a free zoo tour for GH¢50.
The events aim to combine fun, culture, and learning while encouraging families to connect with wildlife and nature.
