Covid-19: Collective efforts needed to fight virus – GHS

The Director of Health Promotions at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Aboagye Dacosta, says the efforts of each individual will collectively help the Ghana Health  (GHS) and the Ministry of health (MOH) to fight the deadly coronavirus.

This call by the Director of Health Promotions at the Ghana Health Service (GHS) follows a surge in Ghana’s coronavirus cases.

Ghana has recorded 718 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 8,216.

The death toll has risen to 533.

Dr Aboagye Dacosta, who made this call in an interview with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive, noted that the its high time the whole country came to the realization that the Ghana Health  (GHS) and the Ministry of health (MOH) will need the collective effort of everyone in order to fight the virus.

He reiterated the need to strictly adhere to the social distancing, wearing of masks and handwashing protocols are the surest way to fight the deadly coronavirus.

He called on the general public to be each other’s keeper and ensure that people who put the masks on their chins desist from the act.

“We keep repeating the need for everyone to observe the safety protocols, because is the surest way to help fight the virus. All we need to do is to just observe the protocols. In August 2020 when the compliance to the protocols was very high, we all saw what happened, we recorded less cases. The Ghana Health Service (GHS) embarked on series of education which seemed to have fallen on deaf ears.” he added

He urged the general public to desist from using air-conditions and make it a point to get always be in a properly ventilated room.

He also called on corporate organizations, whose staff are not working from the house, to ensure that door knobs are disinfected regularly to curb the spread.
