Create Jobs and Drive Ghana’s Development –  AGI G/A Chair to Youth

Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Greater Accra Region, Tsonam Akpeloo, has urged Ghana’s youth to focus on entrepreneurship, professional excellence and job creation rather than making political office their primary ambition.

Speaking at the 2026 Students & Young Professionals African Liberty Academy (SYPALA), programme organised by IMANI Centre for Policy and Education (IMANI CPE), Mr. Akpeloo said, Ghana’s unemployment crisis required young people who could create businesses and employ others.

He said the growing number of young people seeking jobs daily far exceeded the available opportunities, making entrepreneurship critical to addressing unemployment.

Mr. Akpeloo, an alumnus of SYPALA, also challenged young people to build competence in their chosen professions and contribute to strengthening Ghana’s institutions.

He cautioned against celebrating political leaders merely for their ability to speak well or display wealth, stressing that effective leadership must be based on demonstrated competence and a record of achievement.

“The national development would only be done by you,” he told participants, urging them to become the best in their respective fields and take personal responsibility for Ghana’s progress.
