Dagbon Overlord Summon Konkombas, Chokosis ,others over Chereponi Violence

His majesty YA-NA Abukari II the king of Dagbon has called on the paramount chiefs of the Kokombas and the Chokosis to allow Chereponi become an island of peace.

He made this known at the Gbewaa palace during a closed door meeting with the paramount chief of Sabina, the paramount chief of the Konkomba Cheriponi head pastor, Ndakar Jaminja, paramount chief of the Chokosis (Anufo) who are both members of Dagbon Traditional Council together with the District Chief Executives of Saboba and Cheriponi.

He urged the chiefs and the District Chief Executives to continue preaching peace among the two ethnic groups to exercise restraint.

"The Chereponi area which happens to be eastern Dagbon has been known by the rest of the country as inter-tribal conflict area, with his rise to the Dagbon throne, I want the area to be an island of peace.

He told the chiefs and the District Chief Executives that their localities are among the least developed areas in the country and they should allow peace to prevail to enable the Government bring to the areas development".

He said without peace, the area cannot pull the needed development it needs.

He reminded the chiefs and the two District Chief executives that education is the key to development.

The Overlord called on the leadership of Konkomba and Anufo in the Country and elsewhere to assist the chiefs in the conflict area to halt the violence.

He further called on the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his government to take a close watch at the security situation in the area. Secretary of the palace, Abdul Rahaman Mohammed noted in a statement and copied to Atinka news.
