Don’t keep our petition under your desk-Unemployed nurses warn Tina Mensah

Disgruntled unemployed nurses have warned Deputy Minister of Health, Tina Mensah not to keep their  petition under her desk, urging  her to send it the Vice President Bawumia, the appropriate recipient.

They believe the vice president will act on the matter as soon as possible.

The unemployed nurses have also given the government a two- week ultimatum to post them to the various health centers or face their wrath.

The angry nurses gave the ultimatum Monday after they embarked on a peaceful demonstration in the capital.

The demonstration was also against government putting them(nurses and midwives) on the National Builders Corpse (NABCO) which seeks to employ graduates for a period of three years with salary pegged at GHC700 a month.

The demonstrators included unemployed nurses from Ghana Nurses Midwifery Training Association (GNMTA), Coalition of Unemployed Nurses (Private Nurse), Degree Allied Health Professional, Coalition of Unposted Allied Health Professionals and National Health Students Midwifery Association.

Presenting a petition to the Deputy Health Minister, Tina Mensah, spokesperson for the groups, Sammi ulla Bastie-Sante said the government has only two weeks to post them or else it government should expect further picketing at the Health Ministry.

The Minister refused to utter a word after receiving the petition.

Meanwhile, the President of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwifery Association Dr. Kwaku Asante Krobea said the NABCO initiative is a bad one and that government cannot sustain it.
The president explained that skills acquired by them are worth more than the GHC700   being proposed as Salary.
