The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, says the easing of inflation is a key sign that Ghana’s economy is gaining strength.

Dr. Asiama made the remarks when he led the Bank’s senior management and Board members to engage the business community and key financial sector stakeholders in Sunyani in the Bono Region on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

According to the Governor, the recent decline in inflation, coupled with strong economic growth, a stable banking sector and improving private sector credit, points to greater resilience in the Ghanaian economy.

He said the developments were creating a more favourable environment for businesses and investors, while strengthening the prospects for job creation and sustainable economic activity.

Dr. Asiama reaffirmed the Bank of Ghana’s commitment to maintaining price stability and protecting the value of the cedi.

He stressed that keeping inflation under control remains central to creating a stable macroeconomic environment in which businesses can plan, invest and expand with greater confidence.

The Governor also highlighted the importance of continued engagement between the central bank and the business community, saying regular dialogue was necessary to improve transparency and promote inclusive economic policymaking.

The engagement brought together the First Deputy Governor, Dr. Zakari Mumuni, members of the Bank’s Board of Directors, senior management and representatives of the business and financial sectors.

The meeting forms part of the Bank of Ghana’s stakeholder engagement programme aimed at deepening communication with businesses and other key players in the economy.

Dr. Asiama said the Bank would continue working to safeguard macroeconomic stability and create conditions that support private sector growth, investment and employment.
