The Anloga police have arrested a 27-year-old fisherman for stabbing a 71-year-old man to death at Atito in the Volta Region.

On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, a report was received at the Alakple Police station to the effect that, one Yao Senya had stabbed one Dumega Heletsi Akpakudzo 71, to death.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that two sons of both the deceased and suspect engaged in a fight and Dumega ended up beating Yao’s son mercilessly.

In retaliation, Yao pulled out a knife and inflicted multiple wounds on the chest, neck and shoulder of Dumega .

He was rushed to the Keta Municipal Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Yao Senya, the fisherman has been arrested and assisting police in investigation.

In other News: Three arrested over police recruitment fraud

Three persons, Amenyah Bernard, 18, Adzikah Godsway, 23, and Wemegah Godson, 21 have been arrested by the Volta Regional Police Command for recruitment fraud at Akasti in the Volta Region.

They were arrested on 14th September 2021 following a fraudulent Facebook publication purported to have been created by the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Edward Oduro Kwarteng, advertising to assist potential applicants to be enlisted into the Ghana Police Service.

Preliminary investigation by the Police revealed that many victims have paid various sums of money to the fraudsters with the hope of being favoured in the ongoing recruitment exercise.

Suspects

According to the Volta Regional Police Command, it is not responsible for recruiting persons into the service, cautioning desperate applicants to be wary of protocol allocations being offered all over the place.

“The Volta Regional Police Command remains resolute in pursuit of recruitment charlatans in the region and has arrested a total of five suspects in the past weeks,” the Volta Regional Police Command stated.


It added that, “The police, further call on persons who have fallen victims to the scam to report to the command to assist in the investigation and prosecution.”
