A former Deputy Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) USA branch, Alhaji Ali Suraj has asked Ghanaians to forgive former President, John Dramani Mahama over his ‘Do or Die’ comments.

Mr John Dramani Mahama declared that the 2024 elections will be a ‘Do or Die’ affair at the poling stations.

He also stated that the party will go all out to ensure victory come 2024.

The Flagbearer of the NDC made the comments at Techiman in the Bono East Region on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 during a self promotional tour across the country.

He said the NDC had learnt their lessons from the 2020 elections, hence the ‘Do or Die’ comments.

“Elections have become life and death in this country. The use of the Delta Force and Invincible Forces by the NPP in the 2020 elections is a wake-up call for us to adequately prepare for 2024. We must not fail the party in 2024. We must do all we can to win. 2024 will be a do-or-die affair” he said.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie hosted by Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, Alhaji Suraj said, “I will beg all Ghanaians to forgive Mahama for those comments. Maybe he is confused and he is very desperate as well.”

He said the comments were bad, and should not be accepted by Ghanaians because Mr Mahama is desperate to come back to power.

“You are going to a polling station and you and who are going to die? Then he should make sure that cameras will be put on his children at the polling station counting the results, and let’s see if he will allow his children go there,” he said.

“When it comes to sharing post, he will not say everyone should go and take some but he is calling people to go and die because he wants to be president?” Alhaji Suraj quizzed.

He also said the NDC’s intention for the Zongo communities is very bad, explaining that the NDC’s target is to mobilise the Zongo Youth against the NPP but their plans have failed.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Suraj said the Zongo’s do not want violence but need development.
