GJA needs a resourceful leader- Dwumfour tells GJA delegates at Graphic

Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, an aspiring presidential candidate of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has appealed to members of the Association to elect a leader who is well positioned and resourceful enough to lead the group.

According to him, the Association in its current state, form, and structure, requires serious resource mobilization to position its activities.

Consequently, he said anybody vying to lead the organization, must demonstrate with proving record that he or she was prepared to bring something to the table and not to take from the table since the GJA was a voluntary organization.

Addressing members of the GJA at Graphic Communications Limited over the weekend, as part of his campaign activities, the aspiring presidential candidate, justified why the lack of resources was gravely hampering activities of the Association.

For effective management of the Association and its activities, he suggested that members must consider candidates with entrepreneurship background and vote for them to work assiduously and secure funding for activities of the GJA.

As part of his determination to revive the fortunes of the GJA, he said, he would lead the group to secure funding opportunities, sponsorship packages, and other obvious benefits that would be accrued, to improve the structure of the Association and general welfare of members.

In line with this, Albert Dwumfour promised to roll out an insurance package for all members of GJA including retirees.

The pilot phase of the insurance package, was activated during the last General elections, but he assured it would be rolled out nationwide subsequently when he emerges winner of the GJA elections.

The Star General, as many of his admirers call him, said he would partner ADB, and other financial institutions to offer all Regional branches operational vehicles.

These vehicles, he explained, would be branded to promote sustainable agricultural activities and ultimately the performance of ADB at the local level.

The barter trade deal, he revealed, has already been secured and awaiting implementation provided he secures the mandate to lead the organization.

He said as part of the broader implementation of attractive social policies to enhance the welfare of members, he would introduce scholarship package for journalists intending to continue their education to do so with ease.

According to Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, his administration would also focus tentatively on building the capacity of members.

The capacity building program he said would assist journalists to develop interest in specialization and professionalism.

He said he would foster unity among journalists through an effective public private partnership program to create synergy while leveraging on the strengths of both sectors for the benefit of members of the Association.

He said he would create bonding between senior Journalists well established in the system and young ones doing well to close the gap between the two fringes of the inky fraternity.
