GNFS Extinguishes Major Fire at Monte Carlo Pub and Restaurant in Tema Community 10

The Ghana National Fire Service has successfully contained and extinguished a commercial fire outbreak at the Monte Carlo Pub and Restaurant in Tema Community 10, with no casualties recorded.

According to the Service, the incident occurred on Friday, May 15, 2026. A distress call was received at 7:01 a.m., prompting an immediate response from firefighters.

The first fire appliance from the Motorway Fire Station arrived at the scene at 7:08 a.m. and encountered a rapidly spreading blaze. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 7:40 a.m. before fully extinguishing it at 9:34 a.m.

To support the operation and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures, four additional fire tenders from the Industrial Area, Ashaiman, Tema Regional Headquarters, and Newtown Fire Stations were deployed.

The fire completely destroyed the Monte Carlo Pub and Restaurant, including its restaurant facilities, cold room refrigerators, and stock of drinks. The nearby Grant Avenue Food Joint was also destroyed, while portions of an adjoining welding shop and parts of the Monte Carlo sitting area suffered partial damage.

Despite the extensive destruction, firefighters were able to salvage significant property, including two offices, sitting areas, two safe boxes with their contents, and two storerooms, helping to minimise overall losses.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The firefighting operation was led by Tema Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Patrick N. Sallah, with support from other senior officers, personnel from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and the Ghana Police Service in Tema.

The Ghana National Fire Service commended the professionalism and swift response of all personnel involved, noting that their coordinated efforts prevented further escalation and protected adjoining properties.

The Service also reminded the public to observe fire safety precautions and report emergencies promptly through emergency lines 112, 0302772446, or 0299340383.
