The funeral rites of fallen Ghanaian Highlife Artiste, Nana Kwame Ampadu is slated for this Saturday, October 8, 2022.

The death of the Highlife Giant was announced on Tuesday, September 28th, 2021.

He is said to have died after he took ill for sometime.

According to reports, the mortal remains of Nana Kwame Ampadu will be taken to his hometown, Obo Kwahu for funeral rites on Saturday.

The lying in state of the body will be on Friday, October 7 at the same venue.

However, the funeral service will take place at the Obo Community Centre, Obo Kwahu in the Eastern region followed by interment.

The Memorial & Thanksgiving Service will be on Sunday, October 9 at Obo Community Centre, Obo Kwahu.

Nana Kwame Ampadu was one of Ghana’s foremost musician credited with numerous popular highlife tracks and he is known to have composed over 800 songs.

Ampadu’s “African Brothers Band” was formed in 1963. But he came to prominence in 1967 when he released his song Ebi Te Yie.

He has since gone on to release hits upon hits.

Nana Kwame Ampadu died aged 76.

He left behind a wife, Madam Joyce AB Frimpong, 24 children and 30 grandchildren.

There is going to be a state burial for the legendary musician, Nana Kwame Ampadu.

The veteran musician died on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. aged 76.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has decided to honour Nana Ampadu with the state burial.

The Director of Communication at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin made this known at press briefing at the Jubilee House Thursday morning.

A former General Secretary of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Nana Kwame Ampadu born Patrick Kwame Ampadu was the founder of the famous African Brothers Band, and rose to national prominence in 1967 with his song Ebi Te Yie.

The veteran musician was admired as a master lyricist for great compositions including Getty, Oman Bo Adwo, Kofi Nkrabea, Yaw Berko, Obra, Agartha and Obi Benya Wo.
