I won’t apologise for hand ball incident  – Suarez

Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez says he owes no one an apology for handling a goal-bound ball that denied Ghana a place in the semifinals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Even though Suarez was shown a red card, Asamoah Gyan missed a penalty awarded to the Black Stars, thereby breaking many hearts across the continent.

The two sides meet again for the final group game at the ongoing World Cup in Qatar on Friday, and Ghana needs at least a point to progress to the next round.

Addressing the media ahead of tomorrow’s game, Suarez said, “I don’t need to apologize. I’d apologize if I injured a player, but in this situation, I handled the ball, I took a red card, and the Ghana player missed the penalty. It’s not my fault. I didn’t miss the penalty. “It’s not my responsibility.”
