A National Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Appiah Ofosu has commended the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare and the entire security body for work done to ensure security during the Easter celebrations.

More than 1000 police officers and soldiers were deployed to provide security on the Accra- Kumasi and Eastern Region road during the Easter season.

At Kwahu where most Ghanaians visited to celebrate Easter, it was observed that the IGP himself with his team patrolled the town and interacted with patrons as well as residents.

Although there were few accidents, the Atibiehene who doubles as the Kwahu Gyaasehene, Barimah Kwame Asante Beteani confirmed that this time, due to the massive patrols, the patrons comported themselves in a manner that accidents recorded were very minimal.

It was also confirmed that crimes including robbery and stealing reduced due to the massive police presence at the Easter Hub.

Speaking on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, Nana Appiah Ofosu said, “What amazes me is the way IGP and his team patrolled the Eastern Region, especially Kwahu during the Easter. They did foot patrols and had interactions with all stakeholders and I think we have to commend all of them.”

He continued that, “As human beings are involved, we cannot have an event free of accidents, but as the Chief of Atibie said, those that were recorded were not many. It could have been that all these years, what happened was more so as we have seen that, moving forward, when we are going there, we should all put it at the back of our minds that we are going to contribute to the development of Kwahuman so that in future, the younger ones can learn from it.”

Nana Appiah Ofosu called on the Ministry of Tourism to expand tourism at Kwahu to make the place more attractive to generate revenue for the country.

“If you look at tourism , I believe there can be more expansion. Those who have tourism sites make it attractive to the world so if you have a focus that you can expand it and make its element more attractive which can help the people and the country as a whole benefit from it, then you have to do it because it will help us,” he added.
