I’ll ensure Free SHS is well-funded – Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has promised that his administration will maintain the current government’s flagship policy,  Free Senior High School.

According to him, he will never cancel the policy contrary to claims by his political opponents.

Speaking about the policy at a meeting with Christian leaders in Kumasi on Monday Mahama indicated that he would ensure that the policy is wellfunded.

“Free SHS has come to stay,” Mahama affirmed, highlighting that while the program has increased access to education, securing sustainable funding is essential to guarantee its future.

“We must ensure it’s well-funded to improve its quality and keep it going.”

Mahama underlined the value of high-quality education, pointing out that Ghanaian students’ educational results would be improved by a program with sufficient funding.

He promised that Free SHS will not only survive but also grow under his direction to better serve the requirements of coming generations.
