KNUST graduate: Autopsy reveals Asphyxia, Severe Pulmonary Edema as cause of death

Following the 24-year-old KNUST Petroleum Engineering graduate’s death in a Takoradi pool while on a business vacation with her boss, the Ghana Police Service has responded.

Giving an update on the incident’s investigations thus far, the police stated that an autopsy performed by officials in front of the deceased’s parents showed that Lois Koranteng died from severe pulmonary edema, asphyxia, and drowning in a swimming pool.

In a statement released on July 11, the police stated that they had opened an inquiry into the regrettable occurrence on June 8, the day they had received a complaint about it.

“On the same day, police commenced investigation into the incident. A Police team visited the scene and also visited the hospital and inspected the body but no marks of assault were found on her,” the statement added.

The police continued by saying that the Inspector General of Police called the family and unconditionally apologized after they expressed unhappiness with the level of police involvement with them.

The IGP promised to visit the family whenever it was convenient for them and provide them with an update on the investigation’s progress, the police observed.
