Labone @ 75: LOSA organises career seminar and exhibition for students

The Labone Old Students Association (LOSA), in collaboration with the Labone Senior High School and its partners, organized a career seminar and exhibition for the students as part of its 75th anniversary.

This was done to inform the students about various careers, enabling them to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and to gain a better understanding of these careers, which would help them make informed decisions when choosing careers and future courses to further their education.

Stakeholders from various sectors and vendors converged at Labone Senior High School to mentor the students to make the best career choices in the future.

Representatives from tertiary institutions were also present to mentor the students on their choice of universities and the courses they offer.

Speaking at the event, President of Labone Old Students Association (LOSA), Mr. Listowel Agbeli, noted that the seminar will help the student make better career choices.

He noted that not all students would have the opportunity to further their education after senior high school, highlighting the need to educate them on what to do and how to navigate life after school.

Meanwhile, he observed that some students give up when they perform poorly in their examinations. He encouraged them not to give up, assuring them that they will always have another chance.

For her part, the headmistress of Labone Senior High School, Mrs. Rejoice Akua Acolor, expressed her excitement and gratitude to LOSA for organizing the seminar for the students.

She noted that most of the time, students enter tertiary institutions before they have the chance to participate in such seminars, and she expressed gratitude to the beneficiaries for having this opportunity even before graduating from senior high school.

She believed the career seminar would shape their ideologies and encourage them to learn, especially since they were currently taking exams.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Rejoice Akua Acolor also observed that some parents use harsh words on their children when they do not perform well and call them names.

That, she said, will not help the students, urging parents to instead get closer to their children, pray for them, and encourage them to do better.

She also encouraged parents to continue to support their children in order to push forward on the educational ladder even when they fail at some point.
