A man believed to be in his early 30s has reportedly been killed under suspicious circumstances in his girlfriend’s apartment at Mpasatia, located in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, identified as Emmanuel Somuah, was said to be a small-scale miner (galamsey operator) residing in the community.
According to sources, Emmanuel had rented the room for his girlfriend, known only as Cynthia, and often visited her on weekends.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that on Saturday, around 5:00 p.m., Emmanuel arrived at the apartment unexpectedly and found Cynthia in the company of another man, identified as Jeffrey.
What transpired next remains unclear, but witnesses reported seeing Jeffrey fleeing the scene shortly after a confrontation.
Emmanuel was rushed to the Toase Government Hospital by some tenants but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following the incident, Cynthia was arrested by police for questioning, while the alleged rival, Jeffrey, remains at large.
The body has since been deposited at the Afari Community Mortuary.
Meanwhile, the Nkawie Divisional Police Command has launched a full investigation into the case.
