Nana Addo’s comment on kidnap menace empty – Security analyst

Security analyst, Adams Bonah, has described the President’s comment on the recent Kidnaps as unfortunate and pointless .

According to him, it was better for the President to have kept mute on the whole issue than making "a one minute and some few seconds comments" on such a huge issue.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo promised to eradicate the recent kidnappings in the country.

The President said this when the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition paid a courtesy call on him at the Jubilee House in Accra.

He noted that the NPP government is determined to stop the menace.

But Speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with Host Ekourba Gyasi, Security analyst, Adams Bonah stated that the President was hesitant in commenting on kidnapping  threat which shows that the President has not been well informed on the matter .

Background

Takoradi has over the past months been hit with a series of kidnappings reports.

Between August of 2018 and January 2019, there have been a number of kidnappings which generated an operation #BringBackOurTaadiGirls on Social media.

Notable among them is the kidnap of three girls; 15-year old Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21, and Ruth Love Quayson.

Main suspect, Nigerian Sam Udoetuk Wills, was re-arrested after breaking out of police custody in connection with these girls.

He has been given a jail term of 18 months for breaking out of police custody.

Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah earlier this month at a press conference assured parents that the girls are alive and that they know where they are.

Daily Guide network, an online news Tuesday reported that the girls had been rescued and were undergoing a medical examination at an undisclosed health facility in Accra.

The CID has, however, denied the rescue reports as filed by Daily Guide Network.

Jones Owusu Yeboah, an expert on issues relating to human trafficking, has added his voice to the issue adding that the kidnapping of the three girls in Takoradi is more complex than it seems.
