The 16 Regional Chairmen of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have urged the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, to remain focused despite what they described as attacks from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a statement issued on Friday, August 28, 2026, the chairmen expressed their full support for Mr Gyamfi and urged him not to be distracted by criticism of his leadership of GoldBod.
The regional chairmen said Mr Gyamfi had played a key role in transforming GoldBod into a functioning state institution within a short period. They cited the introduction of licensing, traceability, assaying and export systems as some of the achievements under his leadership.
They also said GoldBod had helped promote transparency in the gold trade and reduce the loss of gold through smuggling and other channels.
The chairmen encouraged Mr Gyamfi to continue with the institution’s programmes, including expanding licensed gold aggregation, refining, value addition and responsible sourcing.
They said GoldBod’s broader goal of positioning Ghana as a major gold-trading hub in the sub-region should remain a priority.
The NDC leaders further urged party supporters and Ghanaians to disregard what they called misinformation against Mr Gyamfi and GoldBod.
They reaffirmed their confidence in the CEO, the board and management of GoldBod and called for continued support for the institution.
