NDC still doesn't recognize Akufo-Addo as President-Asiedu Nketia

The National Democratic Congress has categorically stated that it shall not recognize Akufo-Addo as legitimate President until all matters surrounding his flawed election as President are dealt with.

According to the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, inspite of the party’s success in parliament during the inauguration of the 8th parliament and the embarrassing spectacle put up by the NPP to mar the process, the NDC will continue to fight for democracy to thrive.

He commended the bravery exhibited by the NDC caucus in parliament during the inauguration of the 8th parliament which also saw the election of Alban Bagbin as the speaker of parliament.

He also commended “nationalist” from the NPP who also voted for the Speaker candidate presented by the NDC.

He said, the NPP having realized Prof Mike Oquaye had lost the Speakership race wanted NDC to sign a joint statement indicating the former Speaker had withdrawn from the elections.

However, the NDC he said did not agree.

He revealed the NDC rejected the proposal by the NPP and insisted that the Clerk of parliament declare the results of the elections.
