NPP has no moral right to call for Ofosu Ampofo’s head – Kuntu Blankson

A former Deputy Majority Chief Whip of Parliament, George Kuntu Blankson, has taken a swipe at the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) call for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to oust its current leadership after a leaked audio confirmed its use of party militias during the controversial Ayawaso West Wuogon by election.

According to the Former Member of Parliament for Ekumfi, NPP’S behavior smacks of very bad judgment and double standards.

“The NDC won’t take advice on morality from brothel”. He stated.

Kuntu Blankson’s comments comes on the heels of a press conference by The NPP Communications Director, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, urging the NDC to ensure the “shameful leadership” is removed “so they restore their moral right to partake in the politics of this country.”

In the viral audio recording, the NDC National Chairman is heard among other things, conceding that a pro-NDC militia group, Azorka Boys were present in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency by-election, which turned violent.

During the by-election, which has now become a subject of a Presidential Commission of Inquiry, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the party withdrew from the elections because a pro-NPP militia group Kandahar Boys dressed as national security operatives outnumbered it.

Kuntu Blankson who shares the same faith with his National Chairman, said he believes the attributions contained on the said tape are concocted and false and is inconsistent with the character and track record of Ofosu Ampofo and do not reflect the values he has always stood for during the period he has known him.

He said the NPP is hell-bent on achieving political equalization by seeking to rope the NDC into non-existent blame in the recent state-sponsored violence at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, despite compelling evidence of state complicity and he finds It is quite astonishing.

Background

A leaked audio recording has exposed some intents by NDC chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo against the Chairman of Peace Council, Professor Emmanuel Antwi and others.

In the said tape, Ofosu Ampofo promised to endorse verbal attacks on the respected clergyman.
The NDC chairman made the deadly pronouncements during a communication meeting at the NDC headquarters in Adabraka days after the Ayawaso West Wuogon by election.

Present at the said meeting were, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Minority Leader, Haruna Addrisu, Sammy Gyamfi, Alfred Ogbamey, former Public Relations Officer for Ghana Gas and other NDC big shots.

After the audio had gone viral, the leaders of the opposition NDC who described the tape as maliciously depraved added that it has been doctored tape by some devious elements in the NPP and government to undermine the NDC and its National Chairman.

According to them, the statements and attributions contained on the said tape are concocted and false.
