NUGS Election: Go to court if you disagree with results- Appiah fires Atuahene

The President -elect of the National Union of Ghanaian Students(NUGS) Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo has asked Kwesi Atuahene (self acclaimed president- elect for NUGS) to challenge the verdict of the 2022 election results in the court.

According to him, that is the only legitimate way to kill the [alleged] mischief which he [Mr Atuahene] is complaining about.”

The Comment of Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo follows various allegations levelled by the General Secretary of the Union, Julius Kwame Anthony, that based on the infractions that have characterised the process, the outcome cannot be deemed credible.

The elections which took place at the Union’s annual Residential Congress at the GNAT Village in Ejisu in the Ashanti region saw Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo as its new President and Joshua Opey as General Secretary elect.

Speaking in an interview with Kaakiyre Ofori Ayim, host of Atinka FM’ AM Drive, Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo said, ”I don’t see the reason why some people are just being paid to destroy the good image of NUGS gained for the past years.

He said, “People have just been be paid to tarnish the good image of NUGS.
“My brother, I don’t conduct and declare elections, the EC does. So, who ever thinks the election was rigged should follow the constitution of NUGS and go to court instead of misinforming Ghanaians what never happened, ”he told Kaakiyre Ofori Ayim.


Dennis Appiah is a former Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

He garnered 824 votes while his main contender, Kwesi Atuahene had 201 votes with Charles Oppong getting 33 votes.
