A lifeless body of a two -year -old boy has been found in a river at Apitikooko, a community within the Obuasi West Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The mutilated nature of the baby’s body points to a case of ritual killing, which has become rampant in many rural areas of the country. The baby boy has been identified as Akwasi Isaac.
A search party in the community moved into action on May 5, 2018, after mother of the deceased, Adwoa Fremah, 19, reported of her missing baby after attending a funeral in the area.
After two days of combing the bush, the search party found the lifeless body in the Awora River Monday Evening with some of his vital organs removed ostensibly for rituals. The baby’s heart, tongue, navel, and penis had been removed.
The Obuasi Divisional Police Command has commenced investigation into the gruesome murder.
