One person is feared dead following the heavy rains that triggered flooding across parts of Accra, with a body discovered at Avenor Junction on Monday.
The deceased, identified by residents only as Kobby, is believed to have been a mechanic who lived near the Odaw River.
According to eyewitnesses, the body was discovered by a scrap trader who had gone to the area in search of scrap materials.
Residents suspect that the deceased may have been swept away or drowned during the floods. However, the exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be officially established.
The body remained at the scene, covered with leaves by residents, as they awaited the arrival of personnel from the National Ambulance Service and the Ghana Police Service to convey it for further investigations.
The incident comes in the wake of heavy rainfall that caused widespread flooding in several parts of the capital, disrupting movement, damaging property, and raising concerns over public safety.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of death and determine whether it was directly linked to the flooding.
