Rains disrupt voters exhibition exercise

A section of Ghanaians who took part in the one day registration exercise of the new voters’ ID Card tripped in regional offices of the Electoral Commission in their numbers to verify their details early morning of Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

However, it started raining in parts of Accra, deterring persons from going in and out of the EC offices to verify their details.

When the Atinka News team visited the EC office at Achimota, it observed that a number of the registrants had come in their numbers to check their details.

As at 9 a.m., more than 20 persons had been to the office to verify their details.

But due to the rains, all those who were at the centre could not leave as well as those who were outside could also not come in.

Speaking with the Returning Officer for OkaiKoi Central at the EC office in Achimota, Alhaji Inusah Salifu, he observed that participation of this year’s voters’ exhibition exercise has been impressive as compared to the years.

He noted that although turnout has been impressive, some people will never go and check theirs because they do not see its importance.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for OkaiKoi Central, Patrick Boamah was expected to submit his nominations forms about 9 .a.m but as at the time of filing this report, he had not show up.
