Tarkwa residents urged to exercise patience over condition of roads

A National Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Oduro Nyarko has urged the people of Tarkwa to exercise patience with the government to address issues concerning the nature of their roads.

Some Concerned citizens of Tarkwa embarked on a massive demonstration over the poor nature of their roads on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.

The demonstration was however, about the third time from the same people over developmental issues that bothered the town.

According to the residents, they resorted to demonstration because they had been neglected on a lot developmental projects especially their roads.

Meanwhile, speaking on Atinka TV’s Flagship morning show, Ghana Nie, Oduro Nyarko assured the people of Tarkwa that government had factored the town into a project which would be executed from the second quarter of the year.

“We are embarking on such projects and the phase two will focus on Tarkwa and so the people should exercise patience with us. By the second quarter of this year, we shall be there to address their issues concerning the roads,” he said.

However, a Communications Team Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kojo Danquah on the same show advised government to use the loans it had taken to construct the roads.

“If government was channeling these monies into the construction of roads, like these demonstrations will not happen. There is more of such demonstrations if the government doesn't sit up to address the issues,” he added.

Kojo Danquah  also said that there was a similar issue at Osino, adding that if government does not come to their aid, the youth of Osino will also embark on a demonstration like that of Tarkwa.
