TARSCO @60: Allow yourselves to be disciplined – Dep. Education Minister to students

The Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), Gifty Twum Ampofo has urged students to allow themselves to be disciplined and allow the school to pass through them and not the other way round.

She said this at the launch of the 60th Anniversary of TARSCO in Accra on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

The 60 years Anniversary and fund raising of the Tarkwa Senior High School (TARSCO) was launched on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Accra.

Speaking at the event, Gifty Twum Ampofo observed that most of the time, the students turn to learn a lot from social media and do not allow themselves to be disciplined by their superiors.

Although she said social media was not bad, she noticed that most of the things on social media were not good enough to straighten the students, therefore urging them not to focus much on social media.

Gifty Twum Ampofo also said during their time in school, their parents paid almost everything, unlike today where government has absorbed most of the cost of education, encouraging the students to also do more by learning, so that in future, they can help build the nation.

She warned students to refrain from destroying school properties when they complete school, noting that most of the students who do that are those who just pass through the school but do not allow the school to pass through them.

She also encouraged teachers to be good role models to students, so that in their quest to discipline the students, they will listen.

To the old students, Gifty Twum Ampofo encouraged them to always render their support to the school in order to place it at the highest position as expected.
