Speaking at the event, the President of Tarkwa Past Students Association (TARPSA), Mrs Hannah Owusu-Koranteng called on the old students to make sacrifices to raise TARSCO to the level of an ultra-modern school that promotes academic and moral excellence.

According to her, the Past Students prioritise academic excellence and the wellbeing of students above everything, adding therefore that the anniversary was to help position Tarkwa Senior High School for that purpose.

“It is with this in mind that TARPSA is looking at the welfare of students as a first step to academic excellence. The aim for settling on the construction of a State-of-the-Art building complex to serve as Dining and catering facility project sets the pace for the overall development of the quality of life for the students so that they can exhibit their capabilities inherent in them,” she said.

Mrs Hannah Owusu-Koranteng made it known that the the building of the complex which will be done in phases, is scheduled to commence immediately after the celebration of the 60th Anniversary in November 2022.

“It is expected that each year group and branch will finance a section of the project. In addition to this flagship 60th anniversary project, the planning committee is inviting individuals and year groups to support the actual programme of the anniversary which includes Awards, improvement of the environment of the school, cost of protocol among others,”she added.

Headmaster

For his part, the Headmaster of TARSCO, Mr George Oduro also explained that due to the capacity of the school’s current dining hall, the students had to attend dining in batches because their number is bigger than the capacity of the dining hall.

He also said they had challenges with the assembly hall, the school’s road and other facilities.

He, therefore, expressed hope that TARPSA, as well as the government will support the school to address these challenges.
Meanwhile, an anniversary cake was also cut to climax the celebration.
