Thieves have made away with all the roofing sheets and classroom desks from the St. Andrew Anglican Basic School ‘B’ Block at Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, leaving the building bare and unusable.
According to the Assembly Member for the Aseneɛ Electoral Area, Papa Yaw Amoah, the theft occurred while the school was on break, and it has shocked the entire community.
In an interview with the media, Mr. Amoah explained that the ‘B’ Block previously served as a temporary shelter for pupils after a rainstorm ripped off the roof of the ‘A’ Block. Government support later led to the re-roofing of the ‘A’ Block, allowing the pupils to return there while plans were underway to renovate and repaint the ‘B’ Block.
However, before the renovation could begin, unknown individuals stole all the roofing sheets and even took the metal classroom desks, further delaying any hopes of restoring the facility.
The assemblyman is urgently appealing to the government, benevolent individuals, and organizations to support efforts to re-roof the building.

He warned that with the roof gone, continued exposure to rain could lead to the total collapse of the school block if nothing is done soon.
