Traditionalist warns against "indiscriminate curses" over election results

Nana Osei Sarfo Bonsu, an authority on traditional history of Ghana and a Researcher at the Manhyia Palace, has warned persons engaged in the indiscriminate cursing over the election 2020 results, to desist from the act.

This caution by Nana Osei Sarfo Bonsu follows curses invoked by some persons who believe the results of the 2020 elections were tampered with.

Electoral Commission boss, Jean Mensah, on Wednesday Wednesday 9th December 2020 declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as winner of the 2020 general elections.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nkoranza Municipal in Bono East region, have invoked curses on the Electoral Commission (EC) and any political parties, Security Agencies, party agents that allegedly rigged the election.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,413, representing 51.595%, while John Mahama garnered 6, 214, 889 representing 47.366% in the 8th election in the 4th Republic that had a dozen candidates.

After the declaration of the results by the EC, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has fiercely opposed the outcome, arguing that their candidate John Dramani Mahama is the winner of the polls, per pink sheets in their possession.

Speaking with host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Ekourba Gyasi, Nana Osei Sarfo Bonsu, noted that traditionally, the gods invoked during curses sit on the case spiritually before meting out punishments to the one at fault.

He noted that people who invoke curses without knowing the actual cause of the situation also face dire consequences.

“ Have you ever seen an election curse come to pass? This is because the people who invoke the curses do not care to find the out the truth or follow the necessary procedures in cursing”, he said.
