"We won't allow this election to be rigged" – Kwesi Pratt warns

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, says the 2020 general election will be monitored keenly to prevent rigging .

“We all want peace on 7th December, but I want to state that nobody will allow this election to be rigged. Anyone who has planned to use dubious means to win the election is a liar, This election will not be rigged, nobody is going to allow this election to be rigged” Pratt warned.

Kwasi Pratt’s statement comes after issues of double registration among other anomalies were recorded in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) mass voter registration exercise.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) called for a suspension of the ongoing voters’ register exhibition exercise to address the anomalies.

Deputy  General Secretary of The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for a suspension of the ongoing voters’ register exhibition exercise to address anomalies.

“We have to call off the registration to make sure that every single person who registered has his name appearing in the register. Send it back to the polling station then reopen the exhibition and let everybody go and check and let’s be sure that nobody is missing,” Deputy General Secretary, Peter Boamah Otokunor said in a press conference.

Reacting to the alleged anomalies in the EC’s voter registration exercise, Mr Pratt said he has monitored elections since 1992 and it appears the system has changed and that  the current EC is not following the approved procedures which have been in existence since 1992.
