We’ll create sustainable jobs for Ghanaian youths-Mahama

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress( NDC), John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to creating sustainable jobs for the teaming Ghanaian youths re-elected.

Touching on the unemployment situation in the country, John Mahama said, the time has come for the creation of meaningful jobs rather than artificial jobs.

According to him, there are a myriad of potential areas like Agri-business, mining, and others that can employ many youths which his next government will focus on.

Addressing the clergy as part of his Building Ghana Tour, Former president Mahama maintained, that artificial job schemes like NABCO introduced by the Akufo-Addo government failed to make any impact. He cited the outstanding nine months of non-payment of allowances to NABCO trainees as disturbing.

Addressing concerns about the increasing hopelessness of Ghanaian youths who are struggling to find meaningful jobs are saddled with, former president John Mahama, was disturbed by the recent figures released by the Ghana Statistical Service which pegged the unemployment rate at 14.7 percent.

According to him, Ghana is threading on a dangerous path where the higher one climbs the academic ladder, the more difficult it becomes for the person to secure a job. This development, the former president said is a reverse of the occurrence where one’s chance of getting a job was enhanced by climbing the academic calendar.
