A medical doctor, Dr George Donkoh, has stated that people lose 18 per cent hemoglobin when they warm their food in microwave.
According to him, there were certain chemicals that microwave transmits to meals when heated, making it dangerous for persons who use it.
He said this while speaking further about the use of plastic bags to wrap food on Atinka TV‘s morning show, Ghana Nie with Nana Yaw Fianko.

As reported, a Urologist Consultant at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr Akisbadek Afoko revealed recently that the chemicals used to produce plastics accounts for increased male reproductive disorders, including low sperm count, low libido, kidney stones and malformed penis, particularly among young people in the country.
That is because the chemicals mix up with water and food preserved in plastics, which when constantly consumed, affects the reproductive hormones.
The Urologist Consultant noted that male reproductive health had become a big problem among males, and should be given equal attention, just as female reproductive disorders, such as uterus and cervical cancers.
Speaking on the above, Dr George Donkoh,”When you use microwave to warm your food and eat it, you lose 18 percent hemoglobin.”
He challenged the host to microwave water and allow it to cool and use it to water a plant in his home for a month.
He said after doing that he will notice that the plant will die.
“There are certain chemicals the microwave will transmit into the water content and it will destruct the benefits of the water to the plant and when it happens and when you put it on the plant it will die,”he said.
“Ceramic also contains mercury, so if you take hot food in ceramics, the mercury will leak into your food and then into your body; if your liver is not strong enough to produce lactic acid, then you turn to store it, which can cause confusion, headache, and other symptoms, so it is time to return to natural substances to help the system function properly,” he said.
When asked what should be done to curb the situation he said people should go the organic way.
“The Best option is to go organic. People should use their own bowls to buy food, the same applies to porridge,” he said.
He also said those who bath with hot water at home should first put cold water in the bucket before adding the hot water, explaining that if it is done otherwise, the hot water will activate the chemicals in the plastic bucket and it would be transferred into the water which will be passed to the skin which can also cause a lot of harm to the skin.
