Zipline begins drone delivery services in Western North Region

Zipline Drone delivery centre at Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western North Region has officially begun the delivery of essential medicines, vaccines and blood product to health facilities in the Region.

According to Mr Kwaku Kusi Amoatin, the Community Lead said the centre undertook 220 deliveries via drone to 51 health facilities in less than a month of its operations.
Mr Amoatin explained that Zipline drone delivery service focused on critical health care applications and that it had the capacity to make hundreds of deliveries in a day.
He indicated that the centre when in full capacity would be serving about 500 health facilities, but that currently, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority had approved deliveries to 181 Heath facilities.
Mr Amoatin said Zipline had trained selected health professionals from the beneficiary health facilities to be able to order and receive products from the centre.
Mr Felix Ennin, Physician Assistant at Sefwi-Asawinso Heath confirmed to the GNA of taking three deliveries from Zipline and that the activities of Zipline Drone delivery services would go a long way to improve on health care delivery in the country.
According to him, delivery was fast and convenient and commended the brain behind the project.
