Govt launches Knowledge and Skills Bank portal

In a significant move to revolutionize education, the government has launched the Ghana Knowledge and Skills Bank portal in Accra today.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to bridge the education gap by providing students with unparalleled access to quality learning resources.

Impomtuo Technologies, a wholly Ghanaian-owned company built the portal with funding from World Bank and support from MTN.

Speaking at the launch at Accra Digital Center in Accra, Communications Minister, Hon, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful expressed her excitement at the portal and indicated that, the platform will allow students all over the country of all classes of schools to access knowledge everywhere they are.

She indicated that only Egypt has embarked on such an initiative, thus making Ghana the second country in Africa to get a Knowledge and Skills portal that grants access to over 5 million online library archives, learning resources, and tools.

“It’s only Egypt which has a similar product on the continent so Ghana is the second and I think with the additions of the AI features, ours will be the best on the continent,” she said.

The Minister expressed optimism that the portal will provide students with the requisite knowledge and opportunity to equip themselves with all the information they need to excel in their examinations.

The portal she mentioned, will also serve as a marketing platform for Ghanaian publishes to upload soft copies of their work to be sold at a fee.

Meanwhile, Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Adutwum on his part indicated that the platform is a major innovation that is going to enhance teaching and learning, hinting that there is a transformation going on in the Education Sector.

He could not understand why because of politics, some politicians will mount podiums and rubbish Ghana’s education system implying that the system is deteriorating considering the change being experienced in the sector so far.
