Three Arrested Over Killing of Kusasi Chief in Asawase

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged murder of a Kusasi Chief in Asawase in July 2025. The suspects have been identified as: Jamil Usman, also known as Babamu or Guru, Suleman Yasir Arafat alias Obasanjo, Ashiadu Sumbeida, also known as Eyeshadow

Police Briefing

Addressing the media in Bekwai on Tuesday, March 17, the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, disclosed that arrangements are being made to transfer the suspects to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for further investigations.

Key Suspect Still at Large

He further revealed that a key suspect, identified as Illiasu, also known as Abodam, is still on the run. The police have therefore appealed to the public to assist with credible information that could lead to his arrest.

Weapons Recovered

DCOP Nyaaba also indicated that a significant cache of weapons was retrieved during the operation, including:

-Two AK-47 assault rifles

-One pump-action gun

-Two pistols

-44 rounds of .32 ammunition

The arrests mark a significant step in ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service to bring those responsible for the killing to justice.
