NPP Urges Members to Join Nationwide Clean-Up Exercise After Constituency Elections

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on its members across the country to actively participate in the nationwide General Cleaning Exercise announced by the government, reaffirming the party’s commitment to environmental sanitation, civic responsibility, and national development.

The nationwide clean-up exercise is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026, as part of efforts to improve sanitation across communities and encourage citizens to take collective responsibility for maintaining clean surroundings.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 9, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP urged all members, executives, and supporters to fully support the initiative by participating in the exercise in their respective communities.

According to the statement, the party believes environmental cleanliness remains a shared national responsibility that transcends political affiliations, stressing that active participation in sanitation campaigns contributes significantly to public health, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

The directive comes at a time when the party is also preparing to hold its highly anticipated Constituency Elections on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Acknowledging the coincidence of both activities, the NPP encouraged its members to first exercise their democratic right by participating in the internal elections before joining the nationwide clean-up exercise.

The party explained that voting during the constituency elections would be conducted on a walk-in basis, a system designed to make the electoral process more convenient and efficient for delegates.

This arrangement, it said, would enable members to cast their ballots without unnecessary delays and still have ample time to participate in the sanitation exercise afterwards.

The statement urged constituency executives and election officials to ensure a smooth and orderly voting process so members can quickly proceed to support the government’s sanitation initiative in their various localities.

The NPP further noted that promoting clean communities aligns with its long-standing commitment to national development and responsible citizenship.

It therefore called on members to demonstrate leadership by actively participating in the exercise and encouraging other residents within their communities to do the same.

The party expressed confidence that the dual activities—the constituency elections and the nationwide clean-up exercise—can be successfully undertaken without conflict, provided members effectively manage their time and cooperate with local organisers.

The nationwide General Cleaning Exercise forms part of broader efforts by the government to improve sanitation standards, reduce environmental pollution, and foster a culture of cleanliness across the country.

Citizens, community groups, institutions, and political organisations have all been encouraged to participate in the exercise.

By directing its members to join the initiative after voting, the NPP says it hopes to contribute meaningfully to the national campaign while ensuring full participation in its internal democratic process.

The party believes the exercise presents an opportunity for members to reaffirm their commitment not only to the party’s activities but also to the broader national interest through community service and environmental stewardship.
