Spain Cancel Final Training Before World Cup Showdown

Spain’s final training session ahead of the FIFA World Cup final was cancelled on Saturday after heavy thunderstorms hit New York and New Jersey.

The team was scheduled to train at the Melanie Lane Training Ground in New Jersey, but the session was first delayed before being called off because of bad weather.

According to the Spanish Football Federation, the players instead held a warm-up session indoors. Under U.S. safety rules, outdoor sports must stop if lightning is detected within an eight-mile radius. Activities can only resume after 30 minutes without lightning.

Meanwhile, Argentina managed to complete their training session after a 45-minute delay at a nearby training ground.

Spain will face defending champions Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

The weather disruption comes after New York City authorities issued a flood advisory, urging residents to stay safe. Earlier in the week, the city also experienced poor air quality caused by smoke from wildfires in Canada.
