Allegations Against Techiman Nurse ‘Bogus’ – Security Analyst

Techiman Nurse

Security analyst Nana Appiah Asare has described as “bogus” the allegations surrounding the arrest and detention of Techiman-based nurse Salomey Awity Baffoe over her alleged involvement in the circulation of false news.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s Ghana Nie, hosted by Nana Yaw Fianko, Mr. Asare questioned the basis for treating the sharing of content as a serious offence warranting such action.

He said the allegation did not appear to correspond with the charges contained in the charge sheet, arguing that there was a need for greater clarity on the specific offence for which the nurse was being held.

“It is bogus because it’s not part of the charge sheet,” he said.

Mr. Asare expressed concern about the potential consequences of security actions on the lives and reputations of suspects and urged authorities to ensure that their actions were supported by clear evidence and proper legal processes.

He also cautioned against the alleged use of security institutions to pursue political interests, saying such practices could undermine public confidence in the country’s security architecture.

He urged security personnel to reflect on Ghana’s history and remain committed to professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
