The Ashanti Regional Constituency Chairmen’s Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to hold a night vigil in honour of the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, ahead of the party’s regional elections.
According to a press statement issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, the vigil is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026, at the DMB Regional Office in Asokwa, on the eve of the Ashanti Regional elections.

The Caucus said the event is intended to demonstrate solidarity with Chairman Wontumi, whom it believes has been treated unjustly, while also celebrating what it described as his “unprecedented and illustrious leadership” as Ashanti Regional Chairman.
The statement further noted that the vigil would send “a clear signal, locally and internationally, that we will not stay silent” on issues affecting the party stalwart.

The Chairmen’s Caucus has therefore called on constituency executives, party faithful, and sympathisers across the region to participate in the event.
“We call on all constituency executives, party faithful, and well-wishers to join us. The vigil will be peaceful and disciplined throughout,” the statement assured.

The statement was jointly signed by Kofi Acheampong, Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Constituency Chairmen’s Caucus, and Frederick Agyemang Mensah, Secretary of the Caucus.
